Lost hiker found near Sara’s Park

LAKE HAVASU CITY – The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office received a call from Lake Havasu City Police Department at approximately
9:30 p.m. Sunday evening Jan. 22, that a 62-year-old female hiker had become separated from her group and the group was unable to locate her.
The party had gone hiking around 3 p.m. Sunday afternoon through Sara’s Crack down to Balance Rock. On the way back to the trailhead, the missing hiker decided to split off from the group as she did not want to hike through the crack as she wanted to take the Arch trail back to the vehicles.
When the others in her group got back to the vehicles, they realized she had not returned yet and they called for help.
Lake Havasu Police Department, Lake Havasu Fire and the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue responded to Sara’s Park and began a route and location search of the area. Shortly after, she was located and brought back to the Command Post. She was glad to be back at the trailhead. Search and Rescue wants to remind everyone to never split off alone from your hiking group.
