BULLHEAD CITY – Mohave Electric Cooperative (MEC) is suggesting members call first, before making a trip to MEC’s office.

“Doing business over the phone is not new for us, but it’s more important now with members being asked to stay at home,” said Ardie Lauxman, chief financial officer of MEC.

“Our member services team can handle most of your MEC needs by phone, which helps MEC limit in-person contact. For the occasional exception when an office visit is needed, a member services representative will set up an appointment during MEC’s normal business hours,” said Lauxman.

MEC’s member services phone number is (928) 763-1100.

MEC has temporarily suspended disconnecting residential electric service and is waiving late payment fees until May 6, 2020 due to the COVID-19 situation.

The temporary disconnect suspension is not a bill waiver. Members are encouraged to pay at least a portion of their electric bill, when possible, to help avoid a large multi-month balance in the future. MEC is also working with members on deferred payment plans to ease the transition once the pandemic is over.

Members should continue to monitor the MEC website www.mohaveelectric.com and on Facebook for updated information.
