LAKE HAVASU CITY – Summer doesn’t end on Labor Day weekend in Lake Havasu City as Havasu Palooza gears up to return for its second annual country music festival that provides a true lake concert experience.

“As far as we’re aware, Havasu Palooza is one of only two true lake concerts in the U.S.,” said Terence Concannon, President/CEO of Go Lake Havasu. “Floating and boating to watch bands perform is the perfect way to spend a day on the lake.” Havasu Palooza, a day-long series of family-friendly country concerts to be held from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14 along the beach of Rotary Community Park at 1400 S. Smoketree Ave.

Volunteers are currently being sought for event set-up on Friday, Sept. 13, to help work the event on Saturday, Sept. 14 and for event tear-down on Sunday, Sept. 15. Volunteers will be given a tank top and free event entry. Volunteers can sign up at Havasu-palooza.com.

“We had a blast last year throwing our first concert in Lake Havasu, and we also learned a lot, too,” said Mark Kirkland, the event organizer. “We listened to our attendees’ feedback and have been working hard with the community leaders to help ensure we have designed a safe and fun event for everyone.”

The concert is designed to be watched from the water with a floating area for swimmers and mooring lines for boaters; there will be land access for spectators, but it will not be the event’s optimal viewing. This year, Havasu Palooza will be held at Rotary Community Park and a new sound system arrangement will be used to help prevent speakers from overheating. Also new this year, boaters will purchase their tickets according to what row they want, and they will be anchored on a first-come, first-serve basis starting at 9 a.m. on Saturday.

However, boaters who pre purchase tickets online will have to bring their confirmation to pick up their wristbands from the land entrance at Rotary Community Park from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 13 or starting at 6 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14 before being able to access their mooring line for the event. The land entrance will be near the Bocce ball courts in Rotary. There will also be a wristband pick-up for pre-purchase tickets on the docks by the Turtle Grille at the Nautical Beachfront Resort from 6 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 1000 N. McCulloch Blvd. The Turtle Grille will be open at 6 a.m. and a limited menu breakfast and a breakfast buffet will be served.

With assistance, boaters will moor on a first-come, first-serve basis and are encouraged to come with their friends to be able to moor together. Engines must be turned off to moor, and boat radios must be off until 10:30 a.m. to accommodate an adjacent event at Rotary Community Park. Boaters must have their own anchors and anchor in both the bow and stern.

Spectators will be able to purchase tickets for the floating area and mooring lines on the same day online if there is available space, and they will also be granted access on a first-come, first-serve basis. Land spectators are welcome; however, they will have to bring their own seating and watch from behind or the sides of the stage. General admission is $30 per person regardless if you are watching from land, the floating area, or on a boat. There is not an additional charge to watch from the floating area and floaters are encouraged to bring their own flotation devices. Children younger than 14 years old must be accompanied by a ticket-carrying adult.

In addition to the general admission, boats will be charged an additional $200 to moor in the first row, $150 in the second row, $100 in the third row, and the fourth rows and back are free once the general admission has been paid. Beach boat parking is available on the sides of the stage for $100, in addition to the general admission. There is also a VIP beached cabana boat available for $850, in addition to $30 per person for general admission.

Attendees are encouraged to pre-purchase their tickets online and pick up their wristbands on Friday to ease access on Saturday. There will be food and non-alcohol beverage vendors on land (water will be available for sale) and roving water vessels to take boaters to land. All boat passengers are asked to remain in their boats at all times, and if they have to enter the water to make it brief and to stay close to their vessels for safety purposes. Attendees are able to pack coolers as they normally would on a lake outing and bring them onto their boats or into the beach area.

Alcohol will be permitted to be brought in (no glass containers) as long as its possession and consumption is in accordance with all city and state laws (only 21 years or older). Those who wish to consume alcohol will need to bring an official government-issued picture identification to receive a 21+ wristband.
