Dear Editor,

Now that poor health concerns and bad weather has hopefully passed, this Wednesday, May 1, from 4-4:30, the monthly peace vigil will resume. This monthly peace vigil began two years ago in support of Ukraine and to be held one time per month at Locomotive Park on the first of each month.

Subsequent to the initiation of this vigil armed conflicts have increased particularly in the Mideast thus the vigil is in support of world peace. Fellow peace activists please join us to stand for peace at Locomotive Park from 4 to 4:30.   Hope to see you there any questions call 928-757-4616.

Dear Editor,

Voting is vital to our American democracy and is the right of all Americans. For The People Act, HR 1 which has been pending, is an important legislative initiative that further assures this right. Principally it protects and strengthens voting rights, addresses ethics reforms, ends partisan gerrymandering, and closes the revolving door to reduce corruption and/or conflict of interests in our government.

Write your representative in Washington and ask them to vote yes on HR 1 to assure ordinary citizens in America have a voice in our esteemed democracy.

Dear Editor,

If you live in Valle Vista and you want it to look like a north area of Kingman in Mohave County then please don’t complain.

By not complaining to the sheriff, road department, code enforcement, public health, animal control, our own board of directors, and any other applicable department we will take on the same look. If that’s what  you want then don’t complain and just go look at the area. That’s Valle Vista in the future.

All of these departments have rules and regulations for a reason and it goes for everyone and not just a few.

Complaining and doing something about the problem and broke rules and regulations being broken by a few people can be corrected only if you complain.

Complain; don’t be a chicken. Have some backbone. There are things in your life that you don’t expect but stand up and make it change. Follow the rules and you will be ok.

Dear Editor,

Poor Donald J. Trump and family, ousted from public housing, the shame! At last Americans have had it. Since the spineless Senate politicians would not vote to impeach Trump, it was left up to the people to finally say enough. Time for a change to civility and a little compassion, time to heal the malignancy allowed to fester by this administration and get over our worldwide embarrassment!

Lindsey Graham, Ted Cruz, and Marco Rubio all know what Donald Trump was after their debates. As soon as they found out Trump’s vicious vindictive nature, they all became sycophants, afraid to speak their minds in fear of his wrath, afraid of being ruined politically.

Based on many letters appearing in The Standard lately it seems Biden/Harris will have a rough uphill battle trying to unify this nation. Just imagine, if you will, Biden implementing some of the same policies Trump did? You think you have heard sniveling? If President-Elect Biden fired Bill Barr, and instilled Hunter Biden (who happens to be an attorney) as the new U.S. Attorney General, I am afraid the hospital’s cardiac unit would not be able to handle the onslaught.

New questions arise, will the Senate and Mitch McConnell refuse to work with Biden as they did with Obama? Remember the statement to make Obama a one-term president? But the most intriguing quandary, now that Trump can no longer wield his power to commute, (as he did with Roger Stone) will Trump head for a country without extradition laws to avoid becoming cell mates with Gates, Flynn, Papadopoulos, Cohen, Manfort, and now Bannon?

Just wondering.
