LAKE HAVASU CITY – The London Bridge Resort got everyone in the holiday spirit as they lit up Lake Havasu for the 24th Annual Festival of Lights.

Festivities began with an annual swim race across the Bridgewater Channel. The race was open to all ages who could compete at flipping the switch for the Festival of Lights.

Third place swimmer won $50 and second place won $100. First place got $250 and was won by 19-year-old Joshua Brandenburg.

One of Santa’s reindeer announced Brandenburg’s win on the London Bridge stage where he flipped the switch and lit up the town, transforming the area into a Christmas wonderland. More than 500,000 lights put a beautiful shimmer on the Lake for residents and visitors to enjoy.

Crowds gathered to explore the festive occasion where hot chocolate was available and Mr. and Mrs. Claus extended Christmas wishes to children. Visitors can enjoy the lights by boat and take a cruise on the Bridgewater Channel or explore by foot along the London Bridge walkway. Festival of Lights will be on display until Jan. 7, 2024.

Kokomo will be joining in on the fun with the start of their Twelve Days of Christmas. You can bring children along and listen to Mrs. Claus’s storytelling, enjoy a few smores then go ice skating. There will be plenty of holiday vendors and Santa will be expecting your letters at this event. Kokomo Twelve Days of Christmas is from 5 to 8 p.m. every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday through Dec. 22.

It’s time to embrace the magic because the holidays have arrived.
