KINGMAN – The City of Kingman’s vision to revitalize downtown Kingman is set to begin its third and final phase! The Kingman Downtown Streetscape Project has been under construction since July 2023, and similar types of projects have greatly benefited other Arizona downtown areas. The City of Kingman is proud to announce the construction of Phases I & II are substantially complete, and Phase III began Tuesday, January 16.

The Ppoject will improve walkability and aesthetics for residents, merchants, and visitors while maintaining our downtown area’s classic, historic character.  This will translate into a safe, attractive, comfortable, and complete street that connects bicyclists, pedestrians, and vehicle users to several destinations along Beale Street between First Street and Sixth Street with connections to Historic Route 66.

“We are happy to report that our project is progressing as planned, both in terms of budget and timeline. The remaining details of Phases I & II are scheduled to be installed in February, and we are on track to complete the entire project by May. We are grateful for the support we have received from the Kingman Area Chamber of Commerce, Kingman Mainstreet, downtown businesses, and the community as a whole.” said Jack Plaunty, Assistant Public Works Director.

The project improvements are addressing infrastructure gaps and deficiencies by upgrading the pedestrian environment with compliant sidewalks, ramps, and driveways per Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements. The improvements will also include landscaping, way-finding, street furniture, and other site amenities within the existing right-of-way. All of these features contribute to the project’s place-making and development of a downtown theme and identity.
