7.5 million people visited Lake Mead National Recreation Area in 2018

BOULDER CITY, Nevada – Lake Mead National Recreation Area welcomed 7.5 million recreation visitors to the park in 2018, according to figures released by the National Park Service. For the second year in a row, it is the sixth most visited park in the entire National Park Service. Nationally, visitation to America’s national parks in 2018 exceeded 300 million recreation visits for the fourth consecutive year. Volunteers needed to spotlight endangered black-footed ferrets

Survey results shine light on recovery effort in Aubrey Valley, Double O Ranch SELIGMAN — The Arizona Game and Fish Department is seeking volunteers to assist with spotlighting efforts to help document the population of endangered black-footed ferrets in Aubrey Valley and on the Double O Ranch near Seligman.  As part of the recovery effort, the department has scheduled two spring spotlighting projects – March 21-25 and April 18-21 (the department also conducts two spotlighting projects in the fall). BLM announces extension of Bullfrog Day-Use Recreation Area infrastructure improvement project

Site will be temporarily inaccessible during construction of new retaining wall LAKE HAVASU CITY – The Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) Lake Havasu Field Office is extending the construction project to replace a failing retaining wall at Bullfrog Day-Use Recreation Area. The original completion date was set for February but has been extended through May 2. During the construction phase, the site will be temporarily inaccessible for safety reasons. The infrastructure improvement project is addressing structural concerns with the current retaining wall, which was built in 1968 and is failing. KPD cancels Junior Police Academy

KINGMAN – On Tuesday, March 5, the decision was made to cancel both sessions of the 2019 Junior Police Academy (JPA).  The Kingman Police Department (KPD) has held two JPAs every year for the past 13 years. That is a total of 26 academy sessions that have impacted almost 650 students.  This year would have been the 14th year.  The decision to cancel this year’s program was not made easily and is due to current and on-going staffing shortages.   Additional resignations are anticipated over the next few months.  The School Resource Officers (SRO), who would normally organize and oversee the academy…
