The first of five defendants charged through an investigation of suspected drug sales from a home in Bullhead City avoided further jail time during his sentencing hearing in Kingman Thursday. Michael Furrow, 35, was placed on probation for 18 months and ordered to perform 60 hours of community work service. A Laughlin-based television station’s bid to be placed within the Mohave County Television Improvement District will be aired during Monday’s Board of Supervisors meeting in Kingman. Defense attorney Robin Puchek is fighting for court ordered suppression of his client’s incriminating statements to officers before the Bullhead City man’s child pornography trial starts in Kingman. Michael David Barrett, 42, is charged with ten counts of sexual exploitation of a minor for images of child pornography found in October 2017 on a computer in his home in Katherine Heights. Barrett is also charged in a separate case with three counts of child molestation and two counts of sexual conduct with a minor. Annie Wofford of Lake Havasu City, was one of more than 1,700 current University of Iowa students who recently collaborated to raise almost $3 million in financial support for the UI Stead Family Children’s Hospital as participants in the 25th annual UI Dance Marathon. During the event Feb. 1-2 at the Iowa Memorial Union, student participants unveiled the total of $2,960,403.25, which supports pediatric oncology patients and their families at the hospital and advances cancer research. Skeen receives the Commission on Professional Credentialing Fire Marshal designation The Commission of Professional Credentialing (CPC) announced that Bullhead City Fire Department staff Barbie Skeen has successfully completed the process that awards the professional designation of “Fire Marshal” (FM).
