Lloyd Dickson’s letter of May 10, 2023

Dear Editor,
The above rant of Mr. Dickson was full of disinformation and obfuscations. For Instance, Republicans do not want to “ban” books. We merely seek to make sure books such as Gender Queer are not in school libraries. Having spent an afternoon recently reading some of the books being suggested for school libraries, I think it would behoove a lot more parents to make this a priority. I was appalled at what some teachers think is reading material for kids. We need to allow them to be just kids, especially in grade school, and not introduce them to adult versions of sex.
Most Republicans do not want to “ban” abortions. We simply do not want them available up to the time of birth as the Democrat Party appears to support. Anyone who saw the tape of Virginia’s former Governor, as he stated that if a live baby was the result of an abortion, then the Doctor and Mother would simply “keep the baby comfortable while the Doctor and Mother discussed what to do” Absolutely chilling when you consider the option – for that baby to live or be killed.. If you doubt me, google it.
We do not seek to “ban” the word gay, nor to deny LGBTC rights. We simply do not want children as young as kindergarten to be exposed to those things. If you can’t buy a gun, vote, or smoke cigarettes until 18, why should we allow children younger than that to even hear about such issues, let alone make a decision on gender or sexual preferences, such as the Democrat Party seems committed to today.
I find it amusing that Mr. Dickson appears to believe that FOX News reporters are hypocritical liars. Perchance he might like to listen to the Fact Checkers on FOX as they constantly go after MSNBC, CNN and the rest of the major media as they constantly tell whoppers.
Republicans want ALL American history taught, including the Civil War, Brown vs. Board of Education and Martin Luther King.
Wouldn’t it be nice if we could have open conversations on subjects like being gay, the kinds of books we want in our school libraries, or difficult issues like abortion, as Americans, instead of what seems to happen today when anyone who tries to have such a discussion is called names, and misrepresentations such as were in Mr. Dickson’s letter are instead promulgated.
