Chocolate Festival to benefit local church

BULLHEAD CITY – For just $10, attendees to the Anything Chocolate Festival on Feb 11, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., located at Community Lutheran Church (CLC), 2275 Ricca Rd., Bullhead City, can get a potato bar, oodles of chocolate goodies and a soft drink – all while contributing to a fund that will get the church connected to city water.
“The chocolate festival is a yearly thing for our women’s group,” said Shirley Cutler, Secretary of CLC, with the funds usually going toward general needs of the church and congregation. The immediate need is up to $100,000 to connect to the city’s water supply. The well, which has non-threatening-but-rising nitrate levels, will continue to be used for irrigation; city water will be used primarily for drinking water.
“As far as chocolate, 10-15 people have signed up to bring stuff,” said Cutler. “And people bring stuff that haven’t signed up; we usually have quite a bit,” she added. Participants get a paper serving boat ($6) to load up a baked potato, as well as a $3 “container to get all the chocolate that will fit,” said Cutler.
Other fund-raising elements of the festival include “12 or 13 raffle baskets,” said Cutler, that will be displayed with buckets. Purchase tickets ($1/each or 6/$5), then drop the ticket in the corresponding collection buckets, from which drawings will be made. Local businesses donate gift cards and items for the raffle baskets.
“You name it, we’ve got it; as long as it’s chocolates,” concluded Cutler.
Community Lutheran Church is led by Pastor Tim Eighmy. For more information about the Anything Chocolate Festival, contact CLC Secretary Shirley Cutler at 928-763-2422.
