Illegal dumping allegedly ordered by registered contractor

MOHAVE COUNTY – A citizen’s tip led to the arrest of two Fort Mohave men who allegedly engaged in illegal dumping in Mohave Valley. Mohave County Sheriff’s deputies reportedly responded at about 10:50 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 20 to reports of an illegal dump in progress in the area of Kodiak East and Nez Perce Rd.

“The reporting party advised that a red Ford F150, occupied by two males, was seen dumping a large load of concrete in the desert area,” said sheriff’s office spokeswoman Anita Mortensen. “Responding deputies located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop in the 1500 block of Lipan Blvd. and contacted two male subjects.”
Mortensen said David Ryan Arnett, 55, and Alfred George Nemeti, 49, admitted their involvement in disposing the concrete material. Arnett and Nemeti were charged with one count each of criminal littering.

“The men further advised that their boss, a local registered contractor, had instructed them to dump the concrete in the wash,” Mortensen said. She said the unidentified contractor will also be charged as he admitted instructing the workers to dump the material.
