Floyd sentenced for sexual assault

The National Park Service (NPS) reports a prison sentence was imposed in July for a previous sexual assault at the Lake Mead National Recreation area. A federal judge ordered a 20- to 55-year prison term for Nicholas Floyd, 40.

“Court documents show that the investigation began in May, 2018 after a 14-year-old reported being sexually assaulted by Floyd, then age 36, while camping at Sandy Cove,” a NPS news release said.? “At a prior court hearing, Floyd pleaded no contest to attempted sexual assault, child abuse resulting in bodily harm, and second-degree kidnapping.”

Floyd did not admit to any wrongdoing nor take responsibility for his crimes and their impact on the survivor. The case was prosecuted by the Clark County District Attorney’s Office.
