On Friday, November 11, 2022, the Ramirez family lost their father Ruben O. Ramirez.
Ruben was born March 28, 1942 in Guadalajara, Mexico to Carmen Ojeda and Pablo Lopez de Ramirez. Ruben came to the U.S. at age 9, and attended school, graduating from Belmont High School in West Los Angeles, Calif. In 1961 Ruben married Mararita Tovar de Ramirez, and in 1963 they had two children, Anabell and Ruben Jr.
Ruben was a handsome flirtatious man who owned and managed many businesses from auto repair shops to working for the Herald Examiner newspaper for several years in his youth.
Ruben was a mechanic by trade but learned many trades in hot rods and racing, as well as loving music and good food. He had a sense of humor. He was a kind-hearted person, willing to help anyone who needed it.
Ruben did not know what rest meant, always working on things that caught his interest.
Ruben retired 10 years ago to Kingman, Ariz., always working and keeping busy. He remarried several times and had a total of seven children and eight grandchildren.
Ruben lived with his sweetheart Arlene, whom he met at a Thanksgiving dinner 13 years ago. I was love at first sight. They enjoyed working, playing, praying together … with enough love to last a lifetime.
Ruben’s death was very sudden and a shock to family and friends. Funeral services will be at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home, with burial in California.
