LAKE HAVASU CITY – Police are investigating a single vehicle rollover traffic accident that injured one teenager and claimed the life of another in Lake Havasu City. Police Detective Chris Angus said officers responded at 11:07 p.m. Tuesday, November 9, to the incident in the area of the intersection of Chemehuevi Boulevard and Silver Saddle Drive.
“The investigation revealed that a 2008 Honda Fit was traveling westbound on Chemehuevi Blvd. when the driver failed to negotiate a left-hand curve at Silver King Dr., which cause the vehicle to leave the roadway and eventually roll over as it struck large landscaping rocks,’’ Angus said. He said the vehicle was occupied by a 16-year-old female and a 17-year-old male, though there was no indication who was driving.
“The female was ejected from the vehicle,” Angus said. “She was transported to Havasu Regional Medical Center, where she succumbed to her injuries.”
Angus said the male teen was released following treatment at the same hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. He said speed has been identified as a suspected factor in the continuing investigation.
