Lee Williams High School football team keeps their playoff hopes alive, beating Mingus last Friday night 40 -18. Lee was led by (Sr) QB Troy Edwards on the field as Troy cashed in on an opening field drive for a touchdown. Edwards started off the game throwing completions to (So) Thomas Doxtader, and then immediately to (Jr) Devin White – breaking a quarterback record at Lee Williams.
Edwards became the all-time leading passer for yards in a season with 2,070 yards so for with one game to go. “It means the absolute world to become the passing record holder. Through these past four years at Lee Williams there was a lot of hard work and perseverance that led to this moment,” Edwards stated after the game.
With the win it keeps Lee in the possible playoff picture needing a win against Bradshaw this Thursday Night. This game was filled with many subplots for individual rankings amongst 4A athletes.
Both Devin White and (So) Reilly Feil moved up in rankings to #4 and #8 respectively in the top 10 in the state. Devin and Reilly are only separated by 100 yards. (Sr) Brayden Peterson is ranked #4 in total tackles with 90+ and (So) Thomas Doxtader took over the #1 position for total return yards on kickoff and punt returns despite having much fewer attempts then the rest of the top four ranked. With the playoffs on the line Lee Williams has to win this Thursday and keep their fingers crossed in the end to make it into the playoffs.
