KINGMAN – A young Kingman man apologized for sex offenses committed upon teenagers during his September 16 sentencing hearing. Keith Jones, 20, previously pleaded guilty to reduced counts of attempted sexual conduct with a minor and attempted sexual assault.
Authorities said Jones engaged in sexual activity with intoxicated 13- and 16-year old girls during a youth drinking party in March, 2020.
“I really do apologize. It’s not like me. I’ve never done anything to hurt anybody,” Jones told Mohave County Superior Court judge Derek Carlisle. “I’m not the way that everyone sees me.”
Judge Carlisle acknowledged Jones had no prior criminal involvement, enjoyed family and community support and was assessed as a low to moderate risk to re-offend. He declined the defense request to place him on probation with no further incarceration.
Carlisle ordered a two-year prison term, followed by 15 years probation. Jones must also register as a sex offender for life.
