KINGMAN – Three people were killed in a head-on collision about six miles north of Kingman. Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) and Northern Arizona Fire District (NAFD) personnel responded at 1:04 a.m. on Sunday, July 31 to the crash on Historic Rt. 66.
“One of the vehicles involved was on fire with heavy damage to the front end. The other vehicle also had heavy damage to the front,” a NAFD news release said. “All occupants, three in total, were pronounced deceased on scene.”
Both lanes of the highway were closed until 6:00 a.m. as authorities extricated the victims and investigated the crash scene. DPS said the crash occurred when an eastbound vehicle crossed the center line and struck the oncoming westbound vehicle.
The deceased included the driver of the westbound vehicle as well as the driver and passenger of the other vehicle. The names of the victims were initially withheld pending notification of kin.
