24 grams of meth seized in traffic stop

FT. MOHAVE – A May 3 traffic stop in Fort Mohave led to drug seizure and the arrest of a Nuevo, California resident. The Mohave County Sheriff’s office (MCSO) said a records check had deputies stop a white pickup truck for an expired license plate at about 11:00 a.m. in the area of Highway 95 and Boundary Cone Road.
MCSO spokeswoman Anita Mortensen said deputies made contact with Russel Paul Samuel, 44, the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle.
“A second records check revealed Samuel’s driver’s license was suspended,” Mortensen said. “When asked about the license plate, Samuel admitted to taking the 2021 registration tab from his wife’s vehicle and placing it on the expired plate.”
After determining it would be towed for violations, deputies found 24 grams of methamphetamine while conducting a search of the vehicle. Samuel was arrested and jailed for possession of dangerous drugs for sale and possession of drug paraphernalia.
